He looked at me, and for a moment, his clarity was so intense it hurt.
“Thank you for lending me yours today. You made me feel like a father again.”
I didn’t say anything. I just nodded and let the tears flow silently.
That day, in that apartment plastered with Post-its reminding us of what memory forgets, there were three of us: an old man who doesn’t always remember, a newborn who can’t yet speak, and me… who simply needed a little shared love.
And we got it.
